these are my thoughts, too. i'm looking for bench from bestop, they are fold and tumble and have a headrest. I've measured the bench of my cj, the lenght fits perfect. a custom frame made from angle iron is easy to made and with some sheetmetal you've a very nice toolbox under the seat.

I just bought a bench for my A2 so my wife and daughter could both ride. I had to buy a piece of foam from foambymail.com for the bottom of the seat. It is a little cramped in the middle when shifting but not too bad. It sits like a couch now and no complaints.

I'm all about the bench seats, and what I was going to do is use the old front seats out of my old '63 Chevy II (baby deuce), hack the legs with angle iron or something, weld it in, all covered in olive canvas... Would take maybe an afternoon to piece it together, and fabric stores in town should carry canvas or something close... Wouldn't have to try to hunt for an uncomfortable bench seat that I would hate to death anyway, when I can have something kinda comfortable, springy, and already has three belts ran through it... The good old fashion airplane lapbelt style
