When you get a chance, please run the numbers so that perhaps I can learn the history of my truck. It was represented as an AM General on GL, it is stenciled CARC 08/96 and the motor tag has a build date of 02/90. Can you see if this was a rebuild during the 90's as well? It's in great shape and I'm very proud to have it.

Thanks,

Carnac,
I appreciate your info. Thank You!!! I do have a quick question. All 3 axle id tags on my truck are stamped 6/72. Is it possible that my truck is a 72 model. The only reason I ask is that I'm paranoid of insurance companies looking for any possible reason to get out of paying a claim.
Sure looks like a 71 to me. Even the registration number reads 1971 since it ends in a 71.

LOL, how could I retire. The surprising thing is we have folks saying they can't find the vin info thread. They insist they have done a search but can't find it. Who knows, maybe they can't spell vin info.

Had to shut the last thread down because it said "2009 VIN INFO" and it's now 2010.

Hate to tell you this but your vehicle is most likely former air force. It's not in my former Army vehicle database.

Ok troops the plot thickins....... upon examination of my vin code using the sites vin code decoder it told me i was rolling around in a one ton pick up:confused:
At some stage somone changed the data plates....
The real no was located on the build sheet in the glovebox, it read

1G8ED18J7FF126742

This also means the reg on that plate aint mine either...... bummer.

This vin number checks out, most uk blazers were used on us air bases in the uk or in Germany. If anyone else has anything to add id be gratefull:|

Cease fire freeze. The glove box can easily be changed. Only one way to do this for sure. Check the vin plate on the drivers side dash. It's in the very far left corner where the dash and windshield meet. You need to validate your VIN there. Then we will proceed.

As for CUCV's in German, a lot were used by the Army in Germany. Nearly every unit above the combat brigade level had them instead of the M151's. I went from a armor battalion to a forward support battalion just prior to desert storm. The armor had just transitioned from 151's to HMMWV's. The support battalion had 2 HMMWVs and the rest were CUCV's. Oh the ambulances were HMMWV's ambulances though.

OK, checked vin plate on dash, not there but the vin tag for the pick up vin no was loose in the glove box when i bought it.
This means that someone in its past swopped vin plates, for why is this:confused: guess we,ll never know.
Having said that i still reckon the glove box vin is the real deal.
One last thing, has anyone started a picture thread for cucv,s while in military service????
P.S thanks for the info CARNAC.

Thanks CARNAC for your efforts anyway. I had another member just tell me that he thought it was a 1987 and an Air Force truck. That helps me a lot by just finding out the year.
