CARNAC,
found this thread the other day, now that I have a little more time to use a computer I can check out sites I missed... Am putting 15.00 USPS MO in mail tomorrow(work hard to NOT be tracked so prefer to keep humans employed by going to the Post Office instead of PayPal info tracker feeding... )
Anyway, Please see if you can get any data on OL IRON(my 12/85 mfg date M1009)
VIN #:1G8ED18J4GF132385(Alum tag on PSSNGR Valve Cover matches AOAP GF 132385). (I get interesting comments from my DMV/City clerk when I go to register it at city hall.. GM data in their comps says it is a 6 Cyl.,2WD,GAS Chevy Blazer...They laugh when we discuss how the military kept GM alive back in the 80's when I tell them it is an 8 Cyl.,4WD,DIESEL)
Stock #(from pillar Data Plate):2320-01-123-2665 (12/85) Contract #(Data Plate): DAAE07-82-CC-4060 Door Stencil(PSSNGR):NFOGQR (DRVRS):CX1831(think are 1's & 0's not I's)
CHEVY INFO:CD-10516 S/S #(on hood(is this NSN??):WS(5?)3T0A01739101A(1's & 0's-not I or O..Right??
) .
There are some numbers on the Windshield rear view mirror:01-156-9740 with a 115A(I think..) below it close to the drvrs side as you are looking at it from standing in front of hood).. Is this the Auction Lot and #??
I purchased it in October 2011 with appx. 68,2or something on the odo.. I forgot exact numbers, I rolled it around 3,000 miles ago(Yes, 35,000+ miles in less than 2 years...I work all over New England-out of the back of OL IRON..A few bowtie head 4wheeler mechanic buddies that work on it when I occasionally break it keep getting on my case for the 1200#+ tools and equip I have in back... Soon to get a pair of 1-tons from a 1980 Chev Fleet plow truck and a 6.5(Non-Turbo
)L Dealer Diesel from an 84 Suburban 10 when I can get some more $$ together).
Also, on the tailgate are two squares that have 2/3 Yellow & 1/3 Red Blazes in them(Yellow on outside of squares, not a Chevron or a true Diagonal that splits the squares).. A guy I used to know(17 years Army transport Sgt.(Hovercrafts)) told me they were mechanic insignias. The Car Dealer in East Manchester(LMC Towing) had 4 M1009s and 4 Trailers(2 stake body(no netting but tailgates), A 250 or 300 gallon fuel tank trailer and what looked like a Single Cylinder or such Air Com- pressor (Neg. (or Pos) pressure for some sort of air handling system???)). They told me that the vehicles came from the Indiana Air Nat'l Guard, or that they picked them up in Indiana(I wish NOW I'd bought a trailer also after seeing the one on YOUTUBE "Just A Walk Around" & all the ones here on SS...).
Hope that info is useful for you in tracking the history of my truck. will check back next week or so when am near a computer again.. THANK YOU GUYS WHO DO SO MUCH AT/FOR THE WEBSITE AND US USERS OF IT.
Sincerely,
Kevin P. Donnelly
