The 2015 military history display season will soon be upon us. Now is the time to put dates and events on your calendar. For Camp Adams at the Arlington Fly-In, you need to set aside a few vacation days to attend.

I just left a Fly-In Board of Directors meeting and great effort is being expended to re-vitalize the entire show. It is likely we will see more than last year’s 13 War Bird aircraft parked alongside Camp Adams. A major Tuskegee Airmen traveling exhibit is in the northwest this summer and efforts are underway to include it. The Flying Heritage Collection will again bring guns and vehicles (maybe one of the new additions to that collection) and the Historic Flight Foundation also located on Paine Field will fly in two of their great WWII designed fighters, the Bearcat and the Tigercat.
The Fly-In will invite several tanks and other equipment to be part of our demonstration days.

The Fly-In runs from Thursday July 9 through Saturday July 11. As in the past, Camp Adams will open up for setup beginning the prior Saturday. That date is of course July 4, the US Independence Day celebration. We suggest if you are not otherwise committed for that day, come sit with some of us on the airfield to watch the evening fireworks that bombard the sky all around the airport. None may be set off on airfield grounds so, at no cost to us, we can watch what many others pay big bucks for at the nearby Native American Reservation. We will remain on site through the entire week so come early to set up at your favorite spot.

Public interest in military history has grown considerably because of the various internet war games as well as the unrest in the Middle East. Be in Camp Adams to share your historic equipment and information. We need to be the military history educators for our younger citizens as the US public school system seems to have forgotten how.

NPMC troops (that’s you) are invited to bring your vehicle, etc. to two other events this year. Both are hosted by the Historic Flight Foundation on Paine Field, Everett, Washington. The first is Saturday May 16 celebrating General Aviation Day. The second is Vintage Aircraft Weekend September 4 and 5. Please contact me if you would like to attend either.

Ten sponsors will have a change to win a
30 minute flight in a P-51C.
Put yourself in the cockpit and soar above the clouds in your own P-51C Mustang as you step inside a traveling immersion exhibit featuring the original film, RISE ABOVE, on a 160-degree panoramic screen in a 30-seat temperature-controlled movie theater. The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit highlights the courage and determination of the Tuskegee Airmen, who overcame obstacles to train and fight as U.S. Army Air Corps pilots, and what it means to us 60 years later.

We are recruiting 10 $1,000 sponsors to bring this aircraft and exhibit to the 2015 Arlington fly-In. All ten sponsors will be entered into a drawing and the lucky winner will receive a 30 flight. The Red Tail P-51 has a second seat with stick. Contact us at info@arlingtonflyin.org to enter.

Time is fast approaching for the 2015 Camp Adams gathering at the Arlington Fly-In.
Remember, the Fly-In dates are July 9-11. BUT, Camp Adams begins setup on Saturday, July 4[SUP]th[/SUP]. Arrive on the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] or any day thereafter. Drop your vehicle, set up your tent or do whatever your plan is Saturday or Sunday and then be ready to meet the public on Thursday the 9[SUP]th[/SUP].

We were able to confirm at the Fly-In Board meeting today that the Red Tail Exhibit along with its P-51 WILL be attending. Also, the US Army Reserves and the National Guard are coming with a variety of cool stuff. They are bringing their Laser Gun Range and some vehicles. They have requested an M1 Abrams, Bradley and Blackhawk. As of today they have not received either a decline or acceptance of their request.

We have confirmed the Stuart and Hellcat tanks. The owner of a T55 has indicated a desire to participate (what could we say but YES). The Abbot should be with us as well as one of the Flying Heritage Collection tanks (both the T34 and the Hetzer are sick) Hmmm, what is left? Maybe the Sherman! At least one German 88 will make loud noises. The HFC’s featured aircraft has not yet been named.

I have not heard from the Game Wardens with the PBR. By this report I am asking you to check in so we can search out the mobile stairs for visitors to the vessel.

The group of German ground troops re-enactors plan to attend and they are welcome as are other re-enactor groups from all time periods. Tracy represents the WWII Russians. If you haven’t seen her tremendous tent and authentic layout you need to check it out this year.

Here is the plan. You are going to give me a call in coming days just to say hello and let me know you are coming so I can plan spaces. See phone number and email below. This may well be our biggest and best year yet to educate the public to our military history!!

Side note. Next weekend (Saturday May 16, the Historic Flight Foundation will participate in the Paine Field sponsored AVIATIOIN DAY. We military history folks are invited to attend the one day event. Our vehicles will be display alongside the War Birds. And, you are invited to attend the appreciation BBQ after the event closes at 5 PM. So, arrive at the HFF, off the Mukilteo Speedway before 0900. Park your vehicle and, if you like, during the show catch the shuttle bus to the FHC museum at NO cost.

Camp Adams at the Arlington Fly-in is now just three week away. Break out the OD tents, BDU’s, vehicles and displays. The show dates are July 9-11. Camp Adams opens for early arrivals on Saturday July 4. Participants may arrive any day.
If you can only come on show days, be sure to arrive before 0900 to avoid driving among the early visitors.

Camp Adams will host members of the Marine Corps Tankers Association during their reunion. The Game Wardens of Vietnam will bring their combat vessel the PBR. John Sessions” Historic Flight Foundation has assigned its B-25 Grumpy to the show. The Flying Heritage collection has a great assortment of heavy armor and cannons slated for the Camp. The Cascade Warbird Squadron has the Fly-in on its MAX effort calendar. And, the list goes on. This year will be one of the biggest and best we have attended. Both the M3 Stuart and M18 Hellcat will do demonstrations. The Western Command will convoy down I-5 and into Camp.

We are likely to have at least three half-tracks and three T-28 advanced trainers. Don Olson says he is bringing his WWII search light to compete with the Friday night hot air balloon show. The military vehicle pass-in-review parades are both Friday and Saturday.

Those vehicles arriving before July 9 should use the regular entrance. On show days, ALL vehicles arrive through the public main gate entrance.

If you have questions before July 4 call Bill High at 425-486-2252
From the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] and on through the show, call Bill at 425-770-7922 OR
