Dry as it was Gimpy found a hole.



Gimpy following me down the creek bed right before the epic 7 hour field recovery with broken dog bones.

This was the last ledge before the area where the dog bones broke. We want a lot farther but couldn't find a way out. The turnaround broke the bones.

We have a truck broken down in Liberty, IN. JW4x4 had a fuel line break (actually cowling wore through it) after midnight. Fortunately it was in town and he is in a parking lot. He has assistance on site and I'm ready to tow if need be. But I know JW and Mike will get it fixed.

M1009 Stuck

I got stuck three times, but only took pictures of two of them. The mud hole picture is obvious why I'm stuck. The other time doesn't show a soft muddy hill that perfectly raised my axle just enough to make my tires not have any traction. I couldn't go anywhere, but we managed to stuff enough stuff under the tires to get me backed off of it. Took a while, though.

I didn't get pictures of my biggest mud hole escapade, but Gimpy made short work of pulling me out.

M1009's at Devil's Backbone

Here is a pic of three M1009's together at the bottom of the Devil's Backbone. This is right before Dave (white M1009) broke his front axle trying to climb out. I had to go up a scary line next to him and help pull him up the rest of the way since he was stuck 3/4 the way up the hill in 2wd. This was the worst I have seen the backbone yet in my Haspin trips, as I can usually make it up and down the easier lines and almost didn't make it out this time.

Junkyard find at Connersville

So I went with Dave Saturday morning to try to find a front driveshaft for his M1009. He broke his driveshaft Friday, fixed it Saturday afternoon, then I helped him break his front axle

Funny thing, the junkyard didn't have any driveshafts for him, he ended up getting one from somebody's friend at the rally. But we saw this old Dodge crew cab that is just begging for a rescue!
