This year’s TX MV Rally will be held Friday, March 25 to Sunday, March 27 in College Station, Texas. We will camp at the Brazos Valley Off-Road Ranch and on Saturday we’ll convoy to the Living History event at the Museum of the American G.I.

There is no need to register. Simply show up. Everyone is welcome (with or without a MV).

Brazos Valley Off-Road Ranch:
The Off-road Ranch is located at 6250 Hwy 47 Bryan, TX 77801
Their website: http://bvorr.com/
We will get access to the Off-road Ranch when gates open at 17:00 on Friday, March 25.

There is a $10 fee per family per night to stay at the Off-road Ranch. Please bring cash and pay Lincoln (nofearnohope).

We dry camp in a field. That being said, there is a building at the camp site with bathrooms and electricity. You can buy lunch at the museum on Saturday. Otherwise, plan for and bring all of your meals and camping supplies.

Museum of the American G.I.:
We'll get up Saturday morning, March 26, for a convoy to the Museum of the American G.I. (Museum’s website: https://americangimuseum.org/). We typically have a police escort for the convoy. Lincoln is working to confirm this year's police escort. At the museum, we’ll line our trucks up for display and enjoy the annual Living History event. After spending the morning at the museum, we'll return to camp mid-afternoon to hang-out at the Off-road Ranch.

Saturday afternoon at the Off-road Ranch may include trail rides, mud pits, vehicle repairs, etc. There's usually a bonfire Saturday night with great company and a few tall tales. Everyone usually departs for home Sunday morning.

Buy / Sell / Trade:
I've started a buy, sell or trade thread (Click here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/2022-tx-mv-rally-buy-sell-trade-thread.207359/)
You may bring anything to the Off-Road Ranch that you want to sell or trade. Feel free to post in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread ahead of time. You must be a registered vendor to sell items at the museum. If that's something you want to do, please contact the museum directly ahead of time to register. Otherwise, please keep these activities at the Off-road Ranch.

Now that the real information has been posted. Here is how things have worked in the past. The closer we get to the Rally people will start posting their travel plans. Normally someone near or on that route will chime in and a convoy will get formed. There have been several mini convoys out of the Houston area in the past.

Lincoln normally has a mental checklist of who is coming from where and when. There is always someone that doesn’t show with no contact and always someone who shows up with no prior announcing of that intention. Either way we are pretty casual and welcome all.

We have never had to do an arrival recovery mission. I was close to needing help in 2013. I had just finished putting the 6.2 in the M715 that week. Maybe 10 miles of testing. When I hooked the trailer to it and loaded a M1009 all seemed well until I got to 3rd gear. Then the cooling fan started to hit my just made fan shroud. Back home to grind and cut clearance, start the journey to repeat. We finally pulled in around midnight to find everyone up around a fire waiting for us. That was neat to arrive to and very welcoming after a very tiring 60 mile drive that took over 5 hours.

The very first attempt at a Rally was 2005 when I organized a gathering at the off road park in Gilmer in October. Huge interest from around the region. Then Katrina and Rita hit. 2 of us made it Friday. I drove the M715 230 miles to be there. Snuggled in my tent very early Saturday morning a loud and persistent whistling sound woke me up. I came out of my tent to find a M35A2 flat towing a M725 around looking for the military vehicle camp. Dave had driven his wife and 2 kids all the way from Kansas during the night. No idea he was coming. Fun was had by all on the very challenging trails they have.

and I'm JUST now seeing this... partially because I wondered if we were doing a '22 event. I sure hope my knee is up for working the clutch (surgery tomorrow!) and if not, well my co-pilot just might have to drive!

Hi Rob. You were on my mind the other day. I was thinking that you had already had your surgery and I was hoping you were on the mend.

Hope all goes well in surgery tomorrow! I wish you a quick and full recovery in time for the rally!

Thank you! I did have surgery on my right knee in December... now it's time for the left one!

Are MVs repurposed as campers welcome? We still green and we still shake, rattle and roll. Also, does this include a swap meet? I have some pulloffs from the M725 and a CUCV I would like to see if anyone might need.
