There should be a wire to supply 24v to the threaded plug on the harness.

I don’t have the parts book in front of me to look up the technical name but I just searched “M series distributor plug” for the photo. Most MV parts suppliers have them. When I said harness before, I should have said engine wiring harness.

The gold color anodized connectorss are by Bendix, not to be confused with those by Cannon. 24 volt tacticals use them everywhere.

The plug wires are incorrect, they should be shielded wires with copper-colored wire braid on them, about 1/2" in diameter. They thread into all-metal waterproof spark plugs.

Those plugs are expensive, and why mechanics try and run plain plugs & wires.

Thanks guys. I ordered one "Military Truck M151 M35 M800 Distributor Wiring Harness Connector "
Was confused because my mechanical odometer cable fit it perfectly, even though that doesn't make sense to go there, and my other REO engine has the odometer cable right under the distributor, and this Engine has no mechanical odometer hookup

would it be the tachometer sender? or is your tach mechanical? ( Ive never seen a gasser close up)

GMC M211 and such do not have a tachometer. Don't know about M35s.

No tach in the early gasser M35.

Lots of commercial road rigs back then did have a cable-driven tach.

my civvy reo 331 has a tach drive off the distributor in just about the same location.
