28 yr old hydraulic oil - should I use it?

My M816 wrecker developed a leak in one of the hydraulic lines. I replaced the line and checked the level in my hydraulic tank. The tank is only about 1/3 full. I checked the archives and discovered that the correct fluid to use is SAE10 motor oil. I found a local supplier at $54.00 for a 5 gallon bucket of SAE10. One of my buddies in town just dropped off two metal containers painted olive drab with markings on the outside "OE HDO 10 Lubricating oil, internal combustion MIL-L-2104D April 1983 9150-00-186-6668". He told me that this is SAE10. I poured a little out and it looks ok. Can anyone think of any reason why I shouldn't use this in the wrecker? It would save $110. Thanks
