hello , i have a M998 of 1986
i have a question: it is in 36 inches, should I leave it in 36 (advantages?) or put it back in 37 inches? (higher and wider but technical interest?); I make the road 360 km of roads per month to pick up my children and otherwise I drive in the area on forest tracks (clay soil and many streams)...

Greetings and welcome to steel soldiers.

36 inch are older bias ply tires and I don't believe they are currently made anymore.

37 inch are radials and are more common now and currently made by Goodyear and bf goodrich.

Radials are a much better tire with better ride and traction if available reasonable in your part of the world. I prefer the baja tires from bf Goodrich.

Post pics of your truck.

considering the truck has a 3 speed transmission, you can use all the help you can get for speed, so always go larger.

Speaking of tires, have anyone tried these? https://ntwonline.com/38x12-50x16-5e-tsl-sx-interco-super-swamper/

Not the price I was thinking of paying but 38s would be nice, especially since those are the same width. Something in the road actually punctured my tire today and its on a flat
I really like them. I had the tsl on my crew cab ford and they rode good and lasted. I really want them for my m1165 but I would have to go 42”. If I was going to a 38” I would just get the Baja ta military tires because they are 1/2 price and I don’t think you can tell the difference between 37 or 38

Also depends on your environment, the TSL's would probably be better in mud the Baja's would be better in sand, if that is a concern.
The TSL's are good tires at least they were the last time I ran some too bad they are so expensive.

I bought tires a few months ago, and there was only one set in the entire country that was 37" that would fit my wheels!

I have 38” on my civilian Hummer with 2.56 differential gears and they are quite nice. I have 37 on my M1025A1 with 2.56 differential gears and Centrimatics and they are also perfect.
