3rd member swap in truck - looking for advice

So I've got some locked axles here that are going to end up in the SEMTT. Looking at things, I think this can be done without swapping the axles. (And I know I'd rather keep the current ones since they have the ABS parts) The SEMTT started as a M931. I'm thinking I can take off the front deck plate and I think it might be able to to pull the rear out the hole where the ramps are but they might have to be removed. But I know the top dogbone mounts have to be removed and moved out of the way to clear it.

So who's swapped 3rd members before in a truck? Any pointers? I'm a little concerned about the axle housing rotating as well.

No, just working on the rears. Mainly wanted to see if someone has done it in truck. I've been through a 2.5T front and rear a few times. Just wondered if there's enough room to pull it.

I really doubt you will have enough room to pull the chunk out of the housing. Maybe if you jack up one axle and let the other droop?

I know the springs and lower dogbone/perches should keep it in place. But I was kinda thinking about leaving it on the ground (If the 3rd's can come through the frame). The top dogbone mount will be the problem as I see it when it's undone. I suspect it'll move a bit. But I think a come-along could be used to help pull it back into alignment when it's done. Guess I'll be getting out there tomorrow with a tape measure to see if any of this can happen.

I dunno I'd trust a tape. When I pulled my IP on the deuce to swap out the steering box, I thought I'd have plenty of room.

Know what you mean! I'm going to measure from pinion flange to flange as well as across to see. Maybe if I could find a cardboard box with that measurement, it'd be a quick test to see...

I think this is the key. If you can figure out a way to rig it, I think it might work. Worse case, you'll still have to pull the axle but nothing will be lost trying.
