You need to determine if the front wheels are spinning the driveshaft or is the transfer case spinning it? We need more info. Were you stuck and the shaft was spinning but not the wheels (either one) or where you driving down the street and had a way to see the shaft spinning? Or up on a hoist with it in 4wd and put it in drive and saw the shaft spin but no front wheels spinning?

without knowing the situation all your going to get here is "best guesses"

Have you downloaded the -10 technical manual? And understood operation of the 4wd mechanism? First, engage the hubs. Twist dial with indicators for locked and unlocked. Next, shifting from 2wd to 4 high range is done off road or slippery conditions, moving straight forward at low speed, coasting preferably.

Just 1 bad locking hub can ruin the whole day when you need it. I would say that is the problem. Go under spin the front drive shaft with the transfer case in 2 WD. Then have some one engage the axle that is turning first then the other one. You should not be able to turn the front drive shaft with the transfer case in 2WD and the hubs locked. Unlock them and the shaft should spin free. Just 1 locked with the open differential and the drive shaft will turn. Let us know.
