Preparing to fix a clutch issue and will be swapping the transmission at the same time. Anyone have some pointers on what to watch out for or what you recommend to definitely replace when doing this?
I was thinking to replace the clutch disc, and the throw-out bearing on the carriage thing, the pressure plate I am sure is OK, but would likely need to be resurfaced along with the flywheel. I may just replace it either way.
Am I going to need any seals of any kind? Are there any bolts that should be replaced as well?
I don't have a clutch alignment tool obviously But could since I am replacing the transmission I could either torch or remove the old input shaft from the old trans to use for this.
Any gotchas when getting this back together as I don't want to do it twice. LOL.

I just went through this on an M817. I did replace my flywheel as it was not in good shape. There are two variety pressure plates out there. One is adjustable and one is fixed in settings. The adjustable I initially had could not be adjusted to spec per the shop manual. I would get the fixed pressure plate. I opened up my NOS throwout bearing to find dried up crusty grease. I would open it and pack with fresh grease. Make sure you don’t cross air lines as you will break your transfer case. I went with a puck clutch similar to factory from seco parts.
