My 818 truck data plate has the following information
stock # 2320 050 8978
GCW Highway 75955
MT 20955
Trailer wt 55000

Front 10467 11554
INT 5244 16790
Rear 5244 16790
Trl Bogie 30821
Max towed 30000
I think this is saying you can have around 25000 lbs of trailer on the fifth wheel and around 30000 lbs on the trailer axles for a 55000 lb loaded trailer weight. Also I extrapolate the gvwr to be 45134 for the tractor itself.
according to my data plate the max combined weight is 75955

I have to say the m872 pulls great behind the m818. I recently brought home two container chassis trailers and my m1009 from Kansas to Nebraska. Ive been hauling soybeans with my m818 and a Stoughton hopper trailer. I had 900 bushels and weighed a little over 80000 lbs. I have one hill between me and the elevator. I was running about 55 mph at the bottom of the hill and had to shift down to fourth gear but kept it around 40mph at the top of the hill. When I use my m915 it runs about 60 at the bottom and drops down to 55 at the top. The 400hp (16 gears)really helps but the 250 works almost as good on short 7 mile trips. It was muddy around the bin sight so I used the 6x6, man I love these trucks...

Ok I am a little lost here I just bought a 1985 m923A1 tag says 10,000 bed and 15,000 trailer. Thats all though what I have found this is the off road numbers not the on road.
So the on road is 20,000 in bed and 30,000 trailer. So could you weight of truck 22,175 + 20,000 in the bed + 30,000 lb trailer to give you a total of 72,175? I am new to this so please be nice and I am just trying to get a clear view on this

I own a steel spread axle flatbed semi trailer. It is a Transcraft TL-2000. It weighs around 14,000 lbs.

When you have a semi tractor towing a semi trailer, you need to have a class A CDL and very thorough understanding of numerous rules that apply. You need to have a correct registration of the tractor and you can, legally, tow a rig that weighs under 80,000 lbs.

Any more and you need a overweight permit.

There is also a bridge formula that limits weight on rear dual axles o 34,000 lbs.

Thank you for the reply I do understand that I will need a class A CDL or class A non-CDL but I am just looking for the cut and dry GCVWR for the M923A1 for on road use
