Kenny & westy are right to an extent...

Are you planning to use a Turbo 6.5? What is the purpose of your swap? might be easier to turbo your 6.2.....

I was hinking about the same swap. I will have to rebuild my engine so I thought about just getting a 6.5 already with a turbo if my engine is too bad. The Banks is expensive so I wanted to know what the difference is. What parts interchange? I may just go to a junkyard, rebuild it and upgrade the turbo. If the 6.5 has more HP to start with the same boost should push the 6.5 even higher than the 6.2. It is all about more bang for my buck:grd:

The main difference between the turbo 6.5L and the NA 6.2L is the compression, turbo models are lower compression... and there is the IP. 1993 was the only year for a mechanical IP and a turbo from the factory. 1994 up used the electronic IP.

Motor mounts and transmission bolt patterns are the same.

Don't forget that if the 6.5 had a serpentine belt setup, the water pump on it is designed to rotate in the opposite direction as the water pump on the 6.2. You would need to change the plate that the water pump bolts to to make this switch.

So a trip to the junkyard this weekend and even a new turbo will be far less than 2k for a banks. Now I just need to get the engine balanced. Then just figure out the right balance of dropping the compression and raising the boost. Saving money works for me!
