i have a 1986 m998, with a 6.5 2004 engine. while looking a socket that vanished a while back, i found the rear lower alternator bolt was laying on the frame rail. it had sheared off in the bracket. the alternator is a 60 amp unit, and it's set up with the 4 belt config..2 for the power steering, plus the 2 for the alternator. the big question, how hard is it to get the bracket out to be able to get that broken bolt out. is the alternator bracket also mount the power steering pump, or are they 2 different brackets?

figured i would post here before tearing into it, hopefully saving some time and frustration.

What bolt are you talking about? what we call the rear bracket (24) is bolted to a stud in the exhaust manifold (nut #25)
Then there appears to be two styles of main mounting brackets, one uses two bolts (31 and 21) and the other uses a long through bolt instead (Also marked 21)
It is very important to have all the bolts/nuts present and tight on the alternator.
It is also VERY important to have that rear bracket positioned correctly or you will break the mounting ears off of the alternator, very bad thing.
