I agree that +4" and 395s will be a good looking truck.

J, not trying to jack your thread but im gonna bob one of mine and i have 1600's. You say the drivability is lost, which parts? I have a dt466 w/alison and hf54 box that im going to slip in durring the bob. Thoughts? can we have some steering pics? Has anyone done crossover? thanks.

Just out of curiosity have you ever measured the height to the frame from the ground? I ask because my states lift laws are governed by a frame height measurement and I would love to do something similar.

They do but only to a point here is the excerpt from he inspection manual.

2. Check vehicle lift. (Utah Lift Law UCA 41-6a-1631)
a. REJECT when:
1) Frame height is greater than 24 inches on a vehicle with a
GVWR less than 4,500 lbs.
2) Frame height is greater than 26 inches on a vehicle with a
GVWR of 4,500 lbs. and less than 7,500 lbs.
3) Frame height is greater than 28 inches on a vehicle with a
GVWR of 7,500 lbs. or more.
*NOTE: Vehicle must be on a flat surface and unladened for all
measurements. Frame height measurement is from the ground to
the bottom of the frame and should be taken on the left side of the
vehicle under the driver’s seat. If the door certification plate has
been removed, the vehicle shall be considered to be 4,500 lbs.

So it looks like they only allow for 28" to the lowest part of the frame, however I'm not sure if they would count the extended spring hangars part of the frame or not.

Id be willing to bet, but honestly dont know, that if its welded or riveted to the frame its considered part of the frame. when you say the lowest point on the frame do they use cross members too? or just the fore and aft rails??

With a DT466, Allison and full hydro there will be no more driveability problems.
