I am adding a pto to the tranfer case on my M818. It is the unit from the 815 or 819 that has a control to engage or disengage it.

Anybody with a 815 or 819 willing to share some photos of how the engaging control lever is mounted in the cab?

Greatly appreciated..........

Hi, Nice M818.

These pictures from the disassembly of the M819 may help some...The lever with the ball handle is the one that actuates the Transfer Case PTO.

-The handle is mounted to the bench seat. When the lever is down in the "off" position, its always touching the calf of your leg & is uncomfotable not to mention you can accidently actuate it while driving by catching it on the cuff of your pants etc.

-The rod goes back to a bellcrank on a crossmember and continues further rearward to another, third crossmember that sits behind the T-case that actuates the PTO.

I hope these help. maybe someone can get an image from the TM that shows the entire assembly.

Thanks!.........the photos are a great help.

The TM's don't show exactly where the components attach in the cab.

Just received a kit from Boyce yesterday. Should have all the components. It was taken off a 815.

I'll try to update the thread as work progresses.

Planning to use it for knuckle boom crane and dump bed.

The flat bed dump is from a '56, 2 1/2 Ford that has been in the bushes for several years.

I am not planning to stretch the frame. I will add the knuckle boom either in place of or right behind the spare tire rack. According to my measurements, I should be able to add a 9' - 10' bed behind the crane. This should be enough space (8'6" x 10') to transport implements to and from the field. I'll use the crane to put them on/off the truck or a trailer.

I plan to use a pintle hitch tag trailer to transport equipment when necessary.

I haven't decided on a specific crane yet but I am looking at models with 5 ton capacity.

The old truck bed ended up being too far gone to try to use.

I'll post some pics as I proceed........

I worked on installing the transfer case pto today but was not able to get it in place. There doesn't seem to be enough room between the T-case and the frame cross member to work it into place.

I may need to cut the cross member out more to get it to fit or remove the T-case and install it - that would be the last resort.
