Picked up a generic 3/4 ton gmc that I want to paint 383 brown over the factory paint (base/clear). I will clean scuff and degrese first but has anyone put Gillespie over factory scuffed paint before??

Also Im looking for pics of this series of trucks (94-99 with the "work truck" style grille) as used by the Military. I remember seeing a few at TACom years back and with I had taken a few reference pics then.

thanks

Here are some pics of my 99 CUCV II. The last pic is after I painted it with Gillespie 383 green. The CUCV IIs are painted over a factory paint job (my Tahoe is factory black). I painted the 383 over a factory black hood and it seems to be holding up fine thus far. If you want any specific pictures of the grille let me know.

Outstanding, just what I was looking for. My googleage was foiled by not knowing the CUCV II name....

It looks like the air force is a large percentage of its use.

It also looks like the lift rings might be a part of the brush guard mount on SOME of these?? hmmm..

The Air Force is the big buyer for these trucks. Although the Navy is right behind them. Many where shipped to foriegn nations.

Most of the front lift rings are bolted directly to the frame horn. There are some pictures that show the mounts.

Some of the lifts are the older style tube mounts that require cutting the bumper.
