You read the rest of that post right? (like the third sentence... ;))

To 2nd what MarcusOReallyus is saying, bigger isn't always better - if all of your circuits were 350MCM, you wouldn't have much vehicle payload left, all of the suspension margin would be used for lugging around copper!! Once you know the loads+distance, you pick a wire that will support the ampacity AND not drop too much voltage over the length of the circuit AND some safety margin...

Everything is a system in a vehicle, and systems are interdependent and interconnected. Want more electrical power, that comes out of the engine's horsepower (via the alternator), but also loads the belt - so if you want a big electrical demand and a big fan, now the pulley sizes belt counts and styles all come into question - and you might need a bigger engine if you want the same performance at the wheels... You can't make single big changes to a vehicle's design and expect it to behave well, you need to evaluate the total system functionality and design.

Hey, Rusty (and others), if you want to subscribe to a thread, there are two ways. One is to make a post, but that's not the only way, and maybe not the best way (if that's all you want to do).

At the top of the page, you'll see a link to "Thread Tools". Click that, then click "Subscribe to this thread", and you're good to go.
