I wrapped the exhaust on the
HMMWV, got the idea from my custom Harley, we wrapped the exhaust on that. There is no heat coming from the shifter or emergency brake and I no longer feel like my leg is on fire. This has cooled off my truck a lot. I own an auto repair shop, so fortunately I have a lift to do this on, but if I did not this is what I would do!
Dump the clamps and buy regular hose clamps.
cut this pieces into 10 foot sections and wrap the exhaust on a creeper, don't go over the union of where the pipes come together, will make it easier if you have to service the exhaust.
I used 3 Thermo Tec Exhaust Insulating 25 foot kits, and the hi heat coating.

Again best thing I have ever done.

Keep an eye out for a spare exhaust system. Those wrap kits work good, but dissolve your pipes at an accelerated rate.

We are in the desert and don't have issues with rusting because of the exhaust wrap but it is fiberglass. We pulled all of the exhaust wrap because every time somebody worked near the exhaust they were getting all the fiberglass in their skin.

I will post more of the things I have done to my hmmwv. That's the good thing about owning an Auto Repar shop, me and my employees keep coming up with more items to improve the truck.

Yeah, that's the downside to it. I've got a spare set of headers that I plan on modifying into a turbo manifold. I'm planning on building that off the truck on a plate. It's going to be the same passenger side header, only with the first two cyl dumping into a tube that has been extended to a straight larger tube to match the rear two cyl diameter of the log. Then a vband flange at the end. I think once I have it built, I'll send it off to have it ceramic coated.
