i just installed some ac 60g glow plugs in my electrically stock m1008 and when i tried cycling the plugs i got some smoke from the glow bar resistor on the fire wall. so i did the 12v mod to the glow plug relay. my glow plugs will cycle on and off but the first cycle takes 19 seconds. Is this normal for this style glow plug? my truck had 13g's and they would shut off when the "wait" light went out. should i go back to the 13's or is this normal for 60g's. i turbo charged my truck and now its difficult to change the glow plugs. so I'm hoping i don't have to do it again. thanks this web site has been a lot of help.

Wait time on my stock M1028A1 and M1009 are about 12 seconds. I use Wellman 070 in the M1028A1 and I believe the M1009 has the AC60s.

I just put in Wellman 070's today, and cycle time is about 12-14 seconds, and she fires right off,I don't know what I took out but they had a barrel type connector, I had to change over to the spade connection.

thanks...... this type of glow plug must take longer to heat up or somthing... i found some oil residue on the 24v glowbar resistor must of been burning that off, becouse it's not use to being on for that long....... i'm going to run it without that for a while ... seems like everything is working ok. fires right up and they cycle a couple more times while its running just like normal. mabey someday i'll try hooking that glowbar back up and see how hot it gets.... the smoke scared me so i removed it.
