After Market landing gear

While the stock landing gear is fine it does not crank up and down and it is a pain to hook up when solo as I am frequently. So I want to Northern tool company in town and found a clamp on landing gear. I would have preferred one without wheels and just a landing plate but they were out and I wanted it now.

I did have to do a mod on the clamps with a grinder so the brake lines did not get crushed when I bolted it on. I will use this gear just to get it on my vehicle but when it is parked I will use the stock landing gear. I still have paint it to blend it but I am happy with it and no more pulled back trying to lift the trailer onto the hook.

I like the one with the wheel for a couple reasons. If I need to move it around the driveway, just release parking brakes and push. Also when hooking up if you are slightly off and bump it the front will move easier without as much fear of folding the foot. I know that sometimes having a solid foot will keep it more stationary/ stable but I have seen to many fold because they didn't slide when bumped. I do think that having the adjustable height is worth it and will save your back in the long run.

...or you could contact CUCVFAN for the correct crank up landing leg. I bought one. It is awesome.

I like what you guys did, thanks for the photos too, really helps when trying to visualize what to do next, what would you do differently if you were to do the leg/foot mod overagain?

I used the HF leg with the dual wheels as it digs into the ground less. Much easier to muscle the trailer around on soft ground. I had to add a piece of pipe to extend it about 4-5 inches to get enough crank room for uneven ground. I welded a plate on the A-frame and bolted the folding swivel leg on to it. Works great. I left the solid leg on also in case I had the trailer in a place that I didn't want to roll it. FYI - when parking the trailer outside I crank the HF unit fully extneded so when it rains the water all rolls out the back (tailgate down) and leaves blow out. That way I don't get more corosion.
