Air assist issues

I'm having some issues with air assist, and I'd like a second opinion.

I can turn the wheel right, and I'll have full assist.

If I turn the wheel LEFT, I not only have no assist, I feel like I'm having to fight the steering wheel to go back to center, like it wants to stay right.

Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing.

From what I've seen, they're sealed, non-serviceable units... But, there has to be some way to fix it... other than buying another one.

Seems I read somewhere to use air tool oil throughout the system once in a while.
Please let us know how this works if you try it.

Id pull it off and soak it in something that won't harm the seals, but has lubrication/penetration (sounds porno) qualities like diesel fuel or transmission fluid. maybe immersed in a bucket for a few days. It wouldn't hurt it any more since you are looking at buying a new one anyways.

When I first got my M35A3 10 years ago I had some similar issues. I jacked the truck off the ground where I could easily turn the steering wheel to left and right lock repeatedly very easily. I then added air tool oil to the air line, probably a teaspoon full, hooked the airline back up and turned the wheel from lock to lock about 20 times. I then repeated the process a few more times. It fixed my problem and now 10 years later I still don't have any problems. I can't take credit for this as someone else posted this process and I just followed the directions. One note is that I have not added any air tool oil to the system since the original fix, but perhaps I should.

thats a great idea. I dont have air assist, so my steering never wants to turn in either direction. hahahaha
