For those of you who have installed a curved pipe so the mushroom lid now fits horizontal
what did you put in there to do this conversion ?, is it a NOS piece or just something you biu off the shelf at a truck parts place ?

Seen a few around on here any pics of what you used or links to the piece would be appriciated .......... mounting the lid like this makes sence, especially in wet climates.

thanks much

Mine is a band clamp and looks to be plated with two bolts. There would be a exhaust U clamp type with a saddle or a hose clamp. Band clamp will look right. I Used the one that came on the truck on the inside joint and the new one on the outside.

Use the original band clamps or something similar. Exhaust clamps with the U-bolt can dent the pipe. The pipe needs to be dent free because the elbow must be removed to open the cowl flap. You might want to weld the nut so there's one less part to lose and one less wrench will/might be needed. You may want to cut a few slots in end for easier clamping and less chance to dent the pipe.
