Update.........New oil filter,Oil.and K&N Air filter Just got 17 mpg:jumpin:
Its getting better.....Will try fuel additive..

The foam was designed to be somewhat self cleaning,:roll: if you imagine caked on dirt would fall off while engine was vibrating, I agree if is not efficent, but during a war situation, you'd probably worry bout the engine running versus mpg.

Just my 2 cents if you're off roading I would not use the k&n, under any circumstances, I wouldn't even use them in a pavement pounder.

I was on a big K&N kick a few years ago till I got some oil samples back showing high silicon ratings in my oil, I've since ditched the K&N's and just replace the paper elements more often. Good Luck

Wikipedia names silicon as dirt basically. Similiar to carbon aswell which is normally in gas engines with less than fresh engine oil. Didn't sound like anything to worry about.2cents

Update!!!!!! put a quart of fuel treatment in and got 17.7 Will keep trying to improve:deadhorse: and post progress
