Hello,

I am going to go through and rebuild my airpacks this week. I have two to do because of the dual circuit brake system on my Deuce. I already have the rebuild kits to do it. The only thing I need to find is the TM. I have searched for it here but cant seem to find it. I believe the TM number is TM 9-2320-209-34-2-1 but dont see it listed in the manual section. I may be overlooking somehow though. I also thought there was a thread with pics on rebuilding them but havent been able to find that either. I have searched both "air pack" and "airpack" but havent found the thread I see referred to.

I also see that there is a mistake in the TM about how a certain piece goes back together.

Thanks for any help provided.

Try this thread for some help. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/35592-cleaning-up-air-pack-rebuild.html

I found the major problem to be the fit for the air cylinder cap was tooooo small by a smidgen. I soaked it in BFS for a couple of days and that seemed to help.

Use a brake cylinder hone on the hydraulic fluid cylinder if it is really crappy.

Follow the directions in the first thread on the rubber cups in the hydraulic cylinder.

You can do it in a afternoon easily.

G-Force,

I will try and get some pics and some measurements for you. I didnt have no luck getting a rebuild kit for the master cylinder so dont know if I will be able to get you any info on that one. I found out that the standard rebuild kit will not fit the dual circuit master cylinder.

Thanks Roady,
I've been in contact with Bendix about the master cylinder. They informed me that it is obsolete and they don't make a rebuild kit for it. I find that weird but hey its their marble.
I also asked them for information on the M35A3 master cylinder which is still available. The only difference as far as I would think is that the reservoir is mounted on the fire wall in the engine compartment on the passenger side. And if you look at the pictures on the A2 and the A3 reservoirs they look the same. I also found out the bore of the master on the A3 is 1 3/4 ". I wouldn't think there would be that much difference.
Also, if you read the SMARPI TM in the resources the part number for the front wheel cylinders check out to a bore size of 1 1/2". I would be curious to have that verified if you ever have the front wheels off. The rears are supposed to remain stock with 1 3/8" bore cylinders.
I apppreciate the info when you get it. I'm sure that if you ever have to rebuild your master you should be able to find the piston cups at least. Good luck on your airpack rebuild.
Oh yeah, can you look at your pressure differential switch and see if there are any part numbers on it??
Thanks again

If this is for the M35a3 version, short air packs come up on eBay frequently for about $150. You can substitute the long M35a2 air pack if need be.
