Alternator belt tip

I had to tighten the belt on my rebuilt alternator because my new belts stretched. I could tell something was up by the voltmeter. Lately it seemed like every week I was tightening my alt belt when I realized it may be slipping in the adjustment bracket on top.

I bought a 3/8" external star washer from the hardware store for 14 cents. Problem fixed. The bolt head is 5/8", but the shaft is smaller. The belts need to be tight for the best performance.
