I decided to use front battery for all 12v loads, now does anyone or has anyone done a alt. with say 120+ amp upgarde? (drivers side only)

I don't have a large load except maybe at night and raining, my new amp for stereo is about 28 to 30amp draw at full volume or my max volume, acc. are no more than 30 amp draw if all HID's are on, brake contol in use, cell charger going , and cargo light on, then its raining and all regular lights, wipers, and heat are on.

So any ideas? I will add the Stinger capacitor for help on amp draw but just asking about this upgrade?

I suggest you go to a local alt/starter repair shop, and ask then what they have available.

Save your old D/S alt, as it is the only replacement you can use on the other side.

You can use whatever you want on the drivers side.

6:00am on a saturday morning. Not many people looking at SS.

Any 27si housing alternator will be a direct bolt in. A 27si type 200 would work great.

You will just have to go the the catalogs to find a vehicle that used them..

As DH said, any thing that will fit will work for your project.

I was thinking about going that route until I saw some prices. I bought the rebuild kit from CUCV Electric and took the alternator to a shop. (I was going to try myself, but decided to let the pro's do the rebuild) They only charged $60 and my alternator looks like new. The guy that did the work was impressed by the parts I gave him.

Consider this, the 27SI alts use a J180 mounting design. There are 2 different ones, see here http://www.elreg.com/blog/are-all-j180-hinge-mount-alternators-the-same
Any alternator that fits the short J180 mounts can be used on the drivers side location. With that said, I also agree with the other folks that 100A is a good amount of juice, check you amperage requirements. You may be trying to fix a problem you don't have.

You are right , the problem is not there yet and most likely will not arise as one, I always tend to read to much into an install, amp is working fine, turned on for first time tonight all is good , no headlight dimming or spikes in meter. Thanks Again
