ok , i need a bare, honest answer from you guys.
am i expecting too much from the deuce,

1,i want a truck that will run on all but anything remotely petroleum based
2 capable of pulling idiot relatives out of ditches when they decide drinking a 30 pack of bud light and trying to drive is not retarded.
3 capable of pulling cars and trucks out of ditches in the winter , and assisting in recovering the backhoe when it gets stuck in the mud
4 capable of driving at sane speed on pavement ( for those of us in pa you know i'm being generous calling the roads in the commonwealth pavement) basically 45-55 since that's about all the safer it is to go around here anyway

5 haul about 5x the capacity of my 87 chevy 3/4 ton when firewood season comes around
6 able to handle going miles off road and possible driving over small trees to get to the wood cutting site

7 be the biggest most impressive thing one is likely to see going down RT-75

other,

i want to run it with 10 11.00x20 instead of the 9.00x20's i know the 11.00's will fit on the rim am i going to run into clearance issues running in dual dully configuration?( with all the back and forth the search function on this site is worthless on that one)

Edit: one other thing if anyone could cut through through all the garbage search results and point me to where in the TM i can find the procedure to change the brakes on this beast id be grateful

I think you are close to target, but would recommend adding lockers if you require absolute off-road performance.

Yup, it should work fine for you. No, you will not have issues running 1100s in dual config. I'd look for radials though.

:tigger:

A deuce is tougher than woodpecker lips but you have to know it's limitations and learn to live with them.

Most of them are on the back side of 40 years old and they require a lot of work to stay in fighting trim.

Do a lot of research before you run alternative fuel since you can damage an engine if you put the wrong stuff in the tank.

If you take care of one it will serve you well.

thank you all,

gimpy im planning on going with the 11.00 bias since i can get a good deal on warehouse kept ones ,11 for 1100 dollars

and wrecker-man thanks for the warning , ive been making bio-diesel for a few years now , the backhoe loves it so i have to assume the deuce will too, also most of what i own is from the 70's and 80's so this really isn't that much worse

Thats not THAT great imho. Look around, you should be able to get radial 1100s for not much more. If you are set on the bias ply, you might want to look into chains if you plan on rescuing anything from the mud.

If you plan to recover heavy vehicles, get yourself the FM 20-22 Vehicle Recovery Operations and TM-5-125 Army-Riggers-Rigging-Handbook . Very helpfull.
A winch truck and good equipment will help, too.

One thing you should keep in mind....compared to your 3/4 ton is everything HEAVY with a deuce. From tools to spares to tires.
Working on a Deuce (repairs) is really work :)

The info you seek is two clicks away.

Click forum at the top of the page.
Scroll down the page to Deuce TMs
Click on that link

Please use capital letters to improve legibility.

The Deuce will be fine for your needs if you take care of it.

Are we(the moderators and administrators) asking too much?

The site rules say,

• Do not post in all CAPS or in giant run-on sentences without punctuation. Do not post as if texting and do avoid the use of texting abbreviations. We are not the grammar police but we want everyone to easily read your post in at least 8th grade English. It is extra work to post proper sentences from a smartphone but the result will be greatly appreciated. Please do your best to use capitalization, proper spelling and punctuation. It makes it easier for everyone to read! Note: this is a RULE, and is enforceable.

If you could pick up one with the winch I think it would fit your bill. You could winch out other vehicles, pull fallen trees from the woods and even make a crane tri pod for lifting.
Heres mine.. Runs stops leaks a little oil but can be used to go to the tip of Norway tomorrow morning if I so desire.
