another 11.00x20 fitment question

I wnat to make double sure before I order some tires- the 11x20's will fit on stock deuce rims in place of 9x20's? thanks!

thanks, now for another question- I was looking at pics of the V-17A phone truck and the M47 dump truck and noticed the front wheels (and rears) were different than a standard deuce. It appears they have a different backspacing to bring the front wheel out what appears to be 2 more inches for a more standar dish wheel. The front matches the rears. Anybody ever seen any of these wheels for sale? I know it's not a big deal to run singles with the stock wheels, but I figure they must have changed it for a reason, so these other wheels would be ideal. Was it to get a wider track, in other words, so the rears would reach the outside of the bed, and the fronts would be in line with them then? Anybody have info on those wheels?

here's another shot that's very interesting:

it appears the aforementioned single wheels were used on front, and the inner rears were just taken off and the standard duals used. Not sure I'd go for this setup since the rears are still wider than the fronts, kind of defeating the purpose of the single rears and probably placing more stress on the bearings than the singles that would place them in about three inches (from looking at pictures)

I think I have a lead on some single wheels but they're off an M135. These should bolt onto the deuce right?

I remember that truck from when I was a high school student at Tilton School! The owner of the company, U.S. Hydraulics was really cool! He had all kinds of cool trucks and jeeps! I remember drooling over that stuff. Y'all sure know how to cause flashbacks!

Those might be the riveted wheels! The M135 wheels will fit. Once you reverse the rear hubs all wheels will line up perfectly if that's what you want.

I live in Greece and I have lots of M-series trucks. I sent you a picture of my costom made Reo truck. It is an ex M34, OA-331 petrol engine , single wheels and now powered by a 130Hp 6cyl Steyr(German) diesel engine. It is converted to duals reversing the hubs. The rear rims are changed to fit the duals but I kert the front m34 style. The tires are 11.00x20. It runs 11,2 pmg.

it looks great with those single front wheels, I think the dual wheels stick too far in on the front, I like a tire to fill up the whole fenderwell.

I'm in contact with a gentleman who has some single M135 wheels I'm looking at. I could suffice with the duals and the hubs flipped, but in my opinion it would look better (not to mention gain some stability) by going with the single wheels since it will bring them out a few more inches over the duals, or more. Anybody know exactly how much further out the single wheels bring the track compared to the duals when singled? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">

I am also in the process of going single rear wheels and I was wondering what are the differences between the riveted and welded wheels? I have 2 styles of welded rims, 1 has large slots that go deeper into the rim, and 1 that has smaller slots on the wheel outer surface. I also have riveted sets but I haven't had time to do any measuring. I did visually
determine an offset difference between the large and smaller slotted, welded rims.

I haven't seen mention of any dimensional difference between the riveted versus welded wheels. The riveted are just an earlier style to the best of my knowledge. I found mention of the offsets of these wheels thanks to David Doyle:

"the single wheels have a 5 1/2 inch offset,
the duals have a 6 3/16 offset"

now that seems a little odd to me, since the singles look like they stick out in front at least two inches over the dual? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">

in the rear on a single wheels! then you are down,
as the duel wheels.one flat at least you still roll down the trail<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_headbanger.gif" alt="Headbanger">

More tires the better! Hehehe, that's just my opinion. Then again, I'm one of the few fools that run Detroits in the deuce rear axles!

I have often thought about that, and with the talk of dual 11x20's I've considered it. My reasoning for the singles is, IMO it looks cleaner, but the duals do look meaner- a subtle difference <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">.
Plus, now, I don't know how much you'd really shed by going single, but rolling resistance has to be great with duals, plus you have to closely size match them to prevent premature wear. Even if the interaxle shaft is disconnected they'll still scrub more in turns.

I admit, I'm a mileage wuss. Go figure, I have a truck that gets 11 MPG, a t-bucket that I don't even want to know its mileage and a deuce, and I'm worried about mileage! But, it's not just mileage, it's wear and tear from all the excess drag.
plus, the number one reason I want to go single is offroad performance. About the only thing the duals have going is a more contact patch, but they're awful compared to what a single could do offroad.

I'm in a real dillema deciding if I want to set it up for offroad, cause there's advantages, and on road because it has advantages. One thing is for sure, I want 11x20's, dual or single. <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

yeah, that's what I'd like, in at least one of the axles. Which would cause more tire wear- the two axles linked, or the detroit in one of them?
speaking of, even with the interaxle shaft disconnected that would still provide some traction, right? Interesting idea, you make a turn and the outer wheel would have to spin, pushing you forward.

By the way, I found out my welded rims with the larger slots are 6.5" wide! The welded rims with the smaller slots are 7.5" wide! And, the riveted rims are 7.5" wide. I am converting to single wheels on new 11.00x20 Firestone NDs. 6 tires are a lot cheaper than 10!
