Another alternator question

Hi, this is my first post, but this website has been very helpful as I work on my m1008. I’d like to start by saying thank you to everyone that takes time to help others get rolling. If I see an opportunity where my limited knowledge will help, I will do the same.

I have replace the batteries and replaced gen 2 alternator. Both idiot lights come on with the key and come off when started. After warmed up, gen 1 light is glowing at idle and occasionally pulsates (starting dim, flashing bright, goes all the way off, then repeats rhythmically about 4 second intervals). Voltage readings on both alternators are correct except for the small red wire on the clip on gen 1 reading 15.5v. (A little high) and the gauge in the high blue just before the red. Problem began a day or two after installing new gen 2 alt, all readings after initial installation were perfect. No light at high idle, just a higher volt reading than normal.

I have read over many posts about alternator problems but have not been able to find an explanation. Connections and wires all look good from what I can tell.

Sounds like you have a gen 1 issue. If you unplug the 2 pin connector on it with the key on it should have battery voltage on both wires. 15.5 is a good bit higher than normal. Test what the actual voltage is on gen 1 when running. Guess on a bad voltage regulator in it.
