Howdy,

This friday Oct 5th at 9am I will be making a recovery on a M923 truck from Johnston. I'm hoping to drive it home to Dekalb, IL. Just curious if there are any members in the area that may be able to offer assistance if something goes wrong? This is my first five ton so a lot of this is new to me. The truck was driven onto the lot and the video shows it running. I am taking batteries with just in case they are dead. Anyone have any advice, tips or tricks?

Thanks in advance
Brandon

I tried to get some help with a pickup in Johnston last May. Never could find anyone.

Ended up having a wrecker company pickup the truck. (electrical issues)

There are a few of us in the area. My dad and I just picked up a m818 from camp dodge a couple weeks ago.

Sgt. Birkenholtz is a great help and had already checked the brakes before we got there. He can give a jump with his tug he drives around.

The trucks from there have a pretty good reputation.

I won't be of much help, but post up if you need assistance.

Good luck.

Tied up with meetings all day Friday, but if you tell me which one (bumper number, etc) I can stop by after work this week and look it over.

The beast is home! Drove it back this morning. Drive right at 60 the whole way. Had to air up all of the tires. No problems whatsoever. Thanks to all and the forum for providing a great resource. Special thanks to pad_cdr for looking the truck over for me. And here she is.
Glad you make it home. Surprised they didn't paint out the bumper numbers before they turned it over to you. They did for the two trucks and the trailer I picked up there. Not sure why, maybe they finally figured out it didn't really matter.
