I am busy getting an M51A2, as explained in the linked thread. I put this question also in the 5-ton section, no takers yet, thought I try this forum as well.

Trying to figure out as much options as possible beforehand. Did anybody has ever tried to make a cargo- or dump truck into tractor combo?

Meaning, being able to take of the dump or cargo bed and install a fifht wheel and back? I saw it exsist in Canada (about 30 years ago) where some rig operators shifted between dump truck and tractor for logging operations depending on the season or demand. Not something to do every 5 minutes, but doable within one or two hours if you have a large enough machine shed or something similar (we do).

Any info on straight-forward changing a cargo or dump into a tractor is appreciated also.

I have seen members transform a tractor into a cargo bed. It looks cool with a 5 ton with a deuce bed on it. I dont see why it cant be done. There was one on here one day with a hitch for a gooseneck trailer for sale if I remember right.

I ..... There was one on here one day with a hitch for a gooseneck trailer for sale if I remember right.

Problem is, I am located in the Czech Republic aua so getting anything but the smallest items from the US to here might be a bit of a problem and very expensive as well. Thanks for the tip anyway, maybe somebody else can use it
