Barrman has a couple of M1009s, a 6.2L M715 w a CUCV charging system and a 6.2L Air Force Suburban. He knows a thing or two.

So other areas won't work for you? ;-)

Keith_J is the best in the area I know. But having said that I can usually get any advice I need here as THE CUCV experts all reside inside the ether that is SS.

Thanks guys! I'm going to be in SA for work for a couple weeks. I wanted to see IF any that might become available the amount of work it would take to get them into good enough shape to make the trek back to Ks.

You planning on buying one in San Antonio and driving it to KS? Definitely replace the harmonic damper, O'Reileys near downtown has them in stock. The usual belts, hoses and radiator check. Fluids etc and you should be golden.

Almost every CUCV that I have bought at auction has required a bunch of work to get road worthy. Not including tires I have usually spent close to $1000 to get them going. Of course some have been less and some more.

I guess I lucked out with mine. Good rubber, all fluids spot on. Only items needed were the vacuum valve regulator on the injection pump and harmonic damper. Of course wipers plus time looking over everything is worth the peace of mind.

Maybe it is because I'm to cheap and buy the abused trucks. ;-)

Yeah, there have been some basket cases coming up for auction, not going to mention which ones but when it is missing the master cylinder lid and instrument cluster among other things..
