Anyone tried OM606 engine in Hmmwv?

I assume the big issue with any other engine is that it affects the transmission mounting. Changing the transmission affects the transfer case. Together all of this could affect the overall gearing of the vehicle.

But with that said, I believe non-US versions of the HMMWV may have different engines, transmissions and transfer cases sourced from their respective countries.

I don´t think so; overhere in Europe, the Humvee dealers source vehicles from all over the world, and every non-US Humvee I´ve stumbled upon so far (Denmark, Poland, Luxemburg, Spain, even Africa) had the same good old 8-cylinder GM/GEP diesel, either 6.2, 6.5, NA or turbo, the 3L80 or 4L80 transmission, and either the NP218 or NP242 transfer.

Now there are a few "Humvee lookalikes" around the world, that at first glance seem close to a Humvee. Spain comes to mind with their URO Vamtac, but that one has a totally different construction, and a 6-cylinder engine.

Hi,

Have anyone tried to put a Mercedes OM606 engine in the hmmwv? Will it work or is it a bad idea?
Even at max tuning, a stock OM606 looks to be well below the Horsepower of a 6.5TD, based on WikiPedia details.

An OM606 might fit, with enough jamming and adapters, but it might be a very slow ride.

don't underestimate the OM606.
The stock rating is around 130-170 horses, true.
but it can be tuned to around 300/350+ with the injection pump and some turbo adjustments alone. also, no need for computers and stuff.
engine is capable of 600+ (there's a charger in the UK, and some specialists in sweden and germany that build these. sure money involved)
