Now Hear This
In our first Now Hear This report of 2016 we reminded you that Camp Adams at the
Arlington Fly-in was only 6 months away. Now the greatest gathering of military vehicles
and equipment displays in the North Pacific region is only three months away! Get out
your calendar and reserve July 7-9 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) to share your military
history collection with thousands of event visitors. As in years past, we will begin Camp
setup on the Saturday before the show (July 2 this year). You are welcome to bring your
vehicle or tenting display any day from July 2 to the 9
th
. Last year we had 26 vehicles by
pre show Saturday evening and 100 by Saturday the last day.
Our pass-in-review vehicle parades will take place mid afternoon on Friday before the
evening air show begins and late Saturday afternoon when we join the warbird aircraft to
close the air show.
Great New Happenings!!!
(1) The Fly-in Board of Directors and Management team has determined Camp Adams to
be a major public attraction and therefore will move the military Camp to the most prime
ground just inside the venue main public entrance. Light Flight aircraft were previously
stationed there. Our layout will be similar but some adjustments may be necessary so
early arrival makes that job easier. The military vehicle transport trailers will continue to
be parked in their old space. All civilian vehicles after off-loading will park in the visitor
parking lot nearby.
(2) Mark and Sherry Gresham will return with the awesome Medal of Honor Recipient
display.
(3) We will have a GP medium forum tent and are soliciting speakers to present 30
minute subjects. Are you available to speak with the public about your vehicle, your
military experience, how to acquire and restore a vehicle, etc.?
Topics committed so far are:
Role of the Forward Observer,
Disassemble and re-assemble an AR15
A Small View of Pearl Harbor December 7 1941
The Restoration of a Halftrack
YOUR TOPIC HERE
(4) We need re-enactors from all military periods to put on demonstrations as part of the
tank demo show. We will recruit a few DI;s to gather some of the younger visitors and put
them through close order drills.
(5) The Stuart tank will join the German tank destroyer in firing demonstrations along
with the German 88 mm flak guns. The Stuart will provide a limited number of paid
rides.
(6) The Flying Heritage Collection from Paine Field plans to display and fly both a Navy
WWII Wildcat and a Japanese zero. (the zero WILL lose the aerial dogfight).
(7) The National Guard will return with their great display of current service vehicles and
weapons.
An important note. If you plan to camp in a civilian RV, motor home, etc., you should
reserve a spot in the former Light Flight Camping area just across the road from our new
Camp location (about 200 ft). Contact the Fly-in Office at 360-435-5857. There are a
limited number of these prime camping sites.
Please contact Bill High if you have questions, suggestions, or just comments on our plan
for this year.

the Guard is bringing two vehicles for display in Camp Adams, a striker and an Humvee to display all three days. They will also be bringing a helicopter for Saturday only, yet to be determined if it's a chinook or Blackhawk.
