Hi guys, first post. My fire department just got a 2008 m916a3. We also go 10 395 80 20 tires on mrap rims. My question is what rims or adapters do I need to make theses tires work on our new truck ? Our truck seems to be piloted hubs, not the budd stud centering. So I am stumped. Thanks. Sorry if posted in wrong section. I am new to this.

I suggest you contact Dave at Easternsurplus.
If those rims are incorrect he will have what
you need and maybe better tires. They can
mount and ship easy peasie.

I called eastern supply. Dave wasn't there , I got bill. He sent me pics of 4 different rims and said one of them might fit. So that was no help what so ever. Gonna try to get dave later on

Guys is there anyone close to me in Los Angeles w/ ANY air brake truck
that can move an unladened air brake trailer that probably weighs 5ton
or so from Ontario, CA (Holt Ave) to Monrovia? I am a buyer.
I think it is about 26 miles.
Both my trucks are up by Spokane at the moment.

Artisan's M916 ENGINE FAILURE

Where do I start? I will be semi brief.

Left N Idaho w/ the M916 a coupe days ago bobtail.
Truck was running AWESOME, smooth, no vibrations,
tracks straight down the road, life is good. I want to
get home and fly to Columbia and help a friend plumb
his home down there.

I fill up w/ fuel in Primm Nevada and about 20 minutes
later the engine develops a ticking sound. I assumed it
was a compressor problem. Oil pressure was up, temp
was ok, I had power. So I pull off at the next offramp
and it got worse. I still think it is the compressor so
I leave engine running and grab the Iphone, open cowl
to video sounds engine is making for diagnosis in the future
before I shut it down just in case.

I am NOT driving this beast, I call for a tow.

More to the story coming and the GREAT SS members who helped me out
in my time of need. So cool are these folks! I will elaborate later on this.

For now;

Any ideas on what happened to engine? (See video)
I think I overspeeded it and tweeked something in the top end.

What say you after listening to the video?

Pull middle & rear valve covers.
Guessing broken or cracked rocker arm ???

I've had similar noise out of M936 A1 NHC250. I thought motor was FUBAR. It was a hung up injector from crud in the fuel. Cleared it with diesel fuel tank cleaner, whew!

Right now Will says #4 cylinder is cold.
He pulled one rocker cover, no real evidence.
Tomorrow we open oil filter to examine what it holds.
Praying for simple fix.
Truck is home in backyard, that was a HUGE effort just to get that done.

Sorry to hear of your engine problems, I hope that it's a simple fix! Those engines are pretty rugged.

If anyone ever needs assistance with Cummins engine faults in the Las Vegas area, I recommend Las Vegas Kenworth....they get their genuine Cummins parts from Rocky Mountain Cummins just down the street but you'll pay 5% less for the same part if you get it at LVKW. They do reputable work there too.

M916 Wounded Recovery

So where does my truck get it's Purple Heart medal!
It WAS on a mission!

I can not tell you guys how much I am so appreciative of the support
Will Wagner and Daniel gave me. Daniel and Rigo were
instrumental in this recovery. I was / am soooo appreciative, I did not
hesitate to write a very generous check to Daniel for his service and
Will's is coming.

Daniel, how did you here about me broke down? Who called you?
I was skeptical about a 5 ton doing this recovery but let me tell you,
Daniels 5Ton, "Brutus" is a VERY capable machine! Five tons ROCK!

Here are a few pics, Daniel in the drivers seat, Rigo at a safety check
stop and Daniel just minutes before departure after all was hooked up.
I had both drive shafts pulled upon their arrival, I have an 83000 pound
tow bar I carry on the nose of Rebel (my M916) that SAVED MY BUTT BTW,
and I had told Daniel I only had one air hose so he stopped and picked
up a pair of Red & Blue coiled hoses so we had brakes on 6 axles all
the way home that included going down CAJON PASS! Daniel is a VERY
CAPABLE gentleman guys.

But lets take one minute to recognize RIGO, the 19 year old you see
w/ the watch cap posed for the camera. RIGO is seriously considering
joining the Marines. Let me tell you that this young man is absolutely
capable of going FAR in that treasured organization, and I hope he pulls
the trigger and joins, and soon. I honestly believe he will. He is a real
trooper. Not one complaint when work had to be done, he goT to the
gettin' and did the tasks well. 3 Cheers for RIGO!

I must say I was glad to help out Artisan. I have been in a similar situation and not having someone that can help really puts a hole at the bottom of your freshly opened beer can. Starting out I had my doubts about the capability of Brutus cause I had never pulled something so heavy, the heaviest thing that Brutus had pulled up until then was a deuce and it handled that like a champ. When we first got hooked up to Rebel and on the road it wanted to push out the rear end from under us I thought to myself "this is going to be an interesting ride home" having a death grip on the steering wheel we pressed on at a careful speed. After a few miles not sure if the tires just needed to get warmed up or if Rebel finally decided to cooperate and let us take him home, but that pushing feeling went away. As we went along we stopped several times to check everything was OK. In the back of my mind I was dreading coming down the Cajon Pass, but luckily the military designed the brakes to activate on the towed vehicle when hooked up to another truck so that put my mind somewhat at ease. After we came down the pass which seemed like forever it was smooth sailing from that point on.
Rigo is a good guy and always willing to help out. He's not one of those kids that just wants to be on his phone looking at FB. Whenever he see's me out there working on the truck he comes over and is interested in learning how to work on stuff getting his hands dirty. So once I told him I was going to help out someone who was stranded he was more than happy to tag along. He will probably come with me on the next mission to help out another SS member recover his 5 ton in Barstow once the euc clears.

Good job fellas! Glad that you all made it to where you needed to be safe & sound, especially considering that the Cajon Pass was involved....that's a loooong way down at a steep grade until you hit the first slightly uphill portion.

I am still working out some bugs in my newly acquired M920.
Some electrical issues like the fan motor is toast.
All the dash controls for heater/vents are seized up.

But, when looking at your build, and that of R Racing, you both used some seriously overkill pressure regulators/oil misters for providing clean air/oil to the transmission.
My question, is $500 really worth it for these two parts?
I can find really good components for $100 to $200.
Not sure if the parts you used are worth the premium price tag.
Thoughts?

I am thinking I shopped them on EBay for about 24% of that.
