Hey everybody, im new to the forum and new to the cucv. I had a pickup with the 6.2 in high school and never had a problem besides replacing the starter. Sold my falling apart toyota monday to buy a 1985m1009 cucv.....ran amazing on the 15 mile drive home, took my boys for a ride without a hitch. Next day the wife and i went up to pick some morels and just drive around....not a single problem. Got up for work the next morning and crank crank crank crank crank NOTHING. cranked until my batteries got weak so I gave up. So for the last two days ive been bleeding everything looking for leaks charging batteries and trying everything ive read on this forum that my bank account will allow. My relay is working fine...I had two swollen glow plugs..getting fuel to all cylinders..its by no means cold here 40s at night and 70s during the day...im at a loss. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thank you

Shouldnt a diesel engine fire eventually without the aid of glow plugs? Or am I being seriously mislead?
Usually only if it is warm enough, fast cranking speed and good fuel delivery with no air in the lines.

Did you test your glow plugs and the rest of the glow plug system? If so, how? Have you followed the trouble shooting steps in the TM for a crank but no start situation?

Honestly, I tried everything and finally got aggravated enough and had enough beers to just jump the gun and swap the glow plugs out....didnt even crank 2 seconds and was purring like a kitten again...now, Iim fully aware that im not in the clear just yet. I know that im most likely going to have a problem with the relay and/or card..so any tips on bypassing? I have a general idea but dont want to burn up $100 worth of GPs. And most definitely dont want to miss out on any trips to the hills. Also, earlier in the day I noticed a black screw on the botton of my fuel filter with about 2 1/2 feet of fuel line leading straight down to nowhere. It was wet around the threads so I tightened it. What exactly is that????

That is your filter drain plug. The hose is supposed to be there, when changing filters you first drain the fuel out into a bottle. Should put a clear hose on the upper vent plug for bleeding also. If your drain plug leaks after you've tightened it, you'll need a new seal.

So its up and running....now I have two injectors dripping fuel. They were spraying but after loosening and tightening and loosening and tightening more and now its down to a drip. Wondering if something is cracked or if I just broke the seal of rust and they arent seating anymore. Input??
