Don't know if anyone needs parts, but AutoZone has a nice promo right now (till the 19th). 20deal10 for 20% off a "ship to your home" order. Needs to be over $100, but there is also free shipping AND a $10 gift card. Not a bad deal !!

Put my order in this morning.

Hey I am on your side on this. I have NO problems with the parts at Autozone. If you want to buy discount parts they have them. If you want Moog parts they have them. They have whatever you want and what ever you want to pay for it. The warranties are great. I had issues with mail order at times and at Autozone I get the problem handled first time every time. I broke the caps off of 3 u-joints putting them in a Dana 60 outer axle joint. I could not for the life of me figure out where I was going wrong. I then bought a Moog u joint and the grease zerk was in the package with the clips. the Duralast had the zerk in the joint. Never thought about it till the last joint. With the zerk in place I feel the hydraulic pressure from the press was building up enough pressure to blast the cap off the end of the last cap as I pressed it in. I took the zerk out and the caps went right on. Any one else care to elaborate on this?

yes, you can have to much grease packed in the caps.

There are some varying opinions on u-joints. Some say sealed are best, grease ones are bad. Some like the other way around.

Most serious off roaders are now using sealed u-joints because they are solid and not hollow. Thus much stronger.

I bought grease ones for now, and had no problems installing. I cant remember the brand but I believe the zerk was in the package and I had to install.

never had the problem you had but I have only changed a few.

As I have said before I prefer the sealed u-joints. They are stronger and last a lot better for me. I have never had a problem damaging a cap with hydraulic pressure. Sounds like too much grease in caps possibly like Rich said.

WOW. I would go out and protest but I have work to do. It is an Autozone thread. Get over it. I am NOT surprised that it made someone tear up. SSDV and I were just having a friendly exchange. If you don't want to be in the exchange move on. Simple as that. Have a great day. And I am straight on topic. This is NOT a test.

Yea I feel great. I don't have any issues about what, who and why I was discussing a u-joint issue with. I was just having a bit of friendly exchange with guys that I thought shared the same hobby and interest as I do. I didn't think I was going to get into a conflict over my reply. I was just using the U-joint as an example of my failures of parts. So yes I feel good. I knew that I would. Thank you for your concerns. Happy Holidays.

The OP post was about a discount and shipping.

It immediately turned into a U joint thread.

How about wiper blades? Maybe antifreeze?
Autozone sells those too.

Boy, you guys crack me up.

The other person ssdv was a good friend of mine and he was asking about buying parts for his M1009 in another thread. Every time someone/I mention Autozone someone has a comeback with what junk they sell. I was just shedding a little light on the fact that you get what you pay for and that NOT everything at Autozone is junk. And No the wiper blades at Autozone are over priced. Antifreeze I buy in bulk so I have no advise for you there. I am told Walmart has great deals on anti-freeze. But if buy enough parts at Autozone I have come out with a 5 gallon bucket of Rotella T 15-40 and 2 AC 1218 oil filters for less then $20. But I am glad you find us funny. What funny like a clown? So we amuse you? Great at least we don't offend you. I would not want to offend. It is all in good clean fun. And this is still a hobby. So laugh it up and enjoy. I got work to do. Happy holidays.

I don't mind when folks post about their experiences buying parts. That what this site is all about, helping each other. There is some good advice being put out and a lot of different opinions o everything. One just has to take it all in, let the dust settle and make a choice on a way forward.

I personally didn't think the thread was hijacked. cucvrus's work on the CUCV's is outstanding and he doesn't cut corners. cucvrus has a lot of very good advice, has bought a butt load of parts, accomplished a lot of really in depth work and I myself find what he says worth listening too.

Oh, and one more thing. Advance Auto has a 30% discount going on right now for their SpeedPerk members. Just saying.

Thanks.
