Backhoe not working?

I can lower (deploy) the backhoe, but none of the controls at the backhoe do anything. Is there an over ride switch that would prevent anything to work?
I can switch the RPM control to 2000RPM but nothing happens, neither on the driver side by the frame, nor the hi/low switch at the backhoe part will do anything. Does that switch have to work for the backhoe to do anything?
You guys expert advice is highly appreciated

As Natrgatr said, make sure the PTO is engaged. To engage the PTO, move the lever to the rear with the clutch depressed. You can hear the PTO when engaged. Also, make certain you never drive the FLU419 with the PTO engaged or you will cause damage. The switch for increasing RPM on the rear only increases the RPM. The backhoe will function regardless which setting the switch is on. The backhoe will operate faster with the higher RPM.

Does the backhoe even deploy without the pto being engaged?

I think when they say not to drive it with the PTO engaged, they are talking highway speeds. On page 97 of TM 5-2420-224-10, under 'Moving The Vehicle', the manual states: 'PTO must be disengaged or pump will be damaged' before moving.

Not sure what vehicle speed would have to do with it. It really should be the engine rpm that counts.

Either way, as mentioned, I've spent many hours with the PTO engaged while driving at about 2,000 rpm. In First gear low range, but still.
