Thanks for the pics. So, does the bracket already have the hole in it to install a second detent switch for reverse (but the military never used one)? Also, since both switches are NO (Normally Open), could one just acquire a second neutral safety switch and it would therefore have the correct threads to be plug-and-play and not require a bushing? This is only if both holes have the same thread. Thanks.

Unfortunately in the shifter housing the holes are different sizes. The problem is not insurmountable though. I went to the local hardware store and bought a threaded brass reducing bushing that fit both the switch and the shifter housing. It's been working perfectly for 15 years now and cost around $4.00.
