Barstow GL loading help

Has anyone picked up a large truck at Barstow CA location and had the GL guy assist in loading?

I have a 5 ton there and a trucker lined up to pick it up. It does not run and needs to be winched/towed onto a trailer. The trucker wants to charge an extra $500 to do this. I called Dave(the GL guy at Barstow) but he hasn't called me back to let me know if he can assist in pulling it onto a trailer or not.


Anybody done this? or know if he can do it?

Dave will not help you, trust me. And most likely he won't return your calls. The first question he asked, both times I picked up trucks there, "You have the equipment to load it?"

got a hold of him today, he said its buyer load, no help given. So it looks like I will pay the extra $$ for them to load it for me.

Of the GL sites I've visited, Barstow SUCKS, all the other places bend over backwards to help out. Dave S at Barstow caters to the big dealers, he lets them roam around the yard unescorted, Yes, I witnessed this in person....Yet when the small time collector/buyer calls, he says no previews because, "I don't have the people to watch you", "things disappear", "all these trucks sell with no preview" GL really needs to take a closer look at how business is being done in Barstow.

LMFAO!, I may have witnessed this as well.......when I showed up early to pick up my first truck there, I have DOD stickers and military I.D. so they couldn't hold me at the gate till he was ready, When I got to the GL office his jeep was parked right next to the front door........He seemed a bit P iss ed that I was there waiting, and he made me wait till 8 a.m. sharp before he talked to me again

He is the MOST unpleasant GL person I have ever dealt with over the past 6 years of dealing with them at 6 different sites on about 10 truck/trailer purchases.

Where's the GL lady? Wonder if she can do anything about him. His answers are very short, like NO! and seems snotty, like he is doing you a favor by talking to you.

So that's what I get to look forward to. I have somebody going with me to pick up my truck so I wouldn't need his help anyways.

WOW, not to change the mood, but I had a very pleasant experience with Dave at GL this weekend, mabye someone talked to him. He was funny and humored me a bit. No problems at all, even when I called him on the fact that the instructions to the GL office were wrong.

Their are two Daves at Barstow. Skophammer is the site manager. Another GL people person......not.

I have never met the folks at Barstow so I am completely unbiased. Like I said in another thread, the best course of action is to send an email to info at govliquidation dot com with DETAILED information about your experience. Include dates, names, sale and lot numbers, etc. Conversely, if you have a great experience, share that as well. A lot of our site personnel work in tough conditions.
