Battery Cable Replacement Question

I am replacing the battery cables in my M925. The problem I am having is with the cables that go to the starter. They are attached to something just in front of the floor access panel. I cant tell if its a bolt head in between the two cables or not. I tried to get a socket in there, but there is not enough room with the transmission in the way.

How do I get the cables out? Or could I just cut them off and bypass this attachment point? The potential problem with bypassing is that the cables would contact the top of the transmission. Does the tranny get hot enough to damage the cable coating?

I think there is a bolt or stud and nut in the middle of two cable clamp. I think you can just pull the cable out.
