Go to the hardware store and buy 1/4" threaded rod and make new ones. It works perfect and will last for years. About $3. for a 2 ft piece.
There ya go. Make it simple.

I have a boatload of about 30" pieces of that stuff I snagged from some remolding at an office next door to where I worked at the time. They were tossing dozens of fluorescent fixtures, and massive quantities of all-thread was used to hold them up. Got a few solid core doors, too. They make great desktops/workbenches.

All-thread is better than bailing wire!
