I have the standard coolant heater for my deuce, it takes up a lot of space under the hood, and I am tempted to take it out. Is there a better, perhaps smaller, heater for the deuce, that you guys would recommend?

I've heard the term "southwind" heaters. What is that? Sounds like holding a lighter to my a$$ and then farting.

Mike.....my one deuce has the multifuel heater & I have to keep the window rolled halfway down when it is on LOW & 30 degrees outside. rofl

All the others that have heaters are the hot water ones & they are hot too....just no where near as hot as the multifuel one.

If you take apart the standard hot water heater, there is a lot of wasted space inside. Someone on here modified the box(made it shorter), gained a lot of room that way.

I have a large heater under the passenger side seat and a fairly small Red dot heater under the dash for defrost purposes. Works great and is out of the way.

There really is no comparison between the fuel burning and hot water heaters as others have stated above. I was running the fuel burning heater at Aberdeen this past year and the windshield was literally smoking when rain hit it! Man, that thing was toasty!

HaHa - I was just going to mention the same thing Bruce - Steelsoldiers and I would have to open the windows in your 900 series after about 5min even as cold and wet as we were.

It was also nice to have heat without running the truck engine....

They are available...if you can find them. They are hard to come by. I just sold a kit to another SteelSoldier member. If for whatever reason it does not sell, I'll repost it.

I have a really good 20,000 BTU hot water jeep heater for sale if anyone wants it. You can mount it under the dash and it does not take up much room, but puts out enough heat to keep you warm.

While I would rather have a fuel burning heater or a hot water heater in that order, the heater that DEUCEMAN offers is a great alternative. Best of all, while it is the incorrect heater for a deuce, it is still "correct" since I personally owned a truck that came out with a M151 heater installed in the cab. I worked well to heat the cab, but, unfortunately, there was no defrost.
