BFG Baja T/A 37x12.50-16.5 on 12 bolt wheels?

Are the 12 bolt wheels okay for use with the BFG radial tires? I'm getting conflicting information. My understanding is that the 12 and 24 bolt wheels will handle the 50psi needed for these tires, but the seller of the tires says only the 24 bolt wheels should be used.

• 12-bolt wheels: Max. Load 3400 lbs; Max. Tire Pressure 50 psi.
• 24-bolt wheels: Max. Load 4540 lbs; Max. Tire Pressure 65 psi.

The only problem/risk that could arise- and possibly the reason they say to only use the 24-bolts- is if your BFG's are the heavy duty version, Load Range "E" tires (max. TP 65 psi) and you running them on 12-bolt wheels, that someone unfamiliar with these could easily exceed the maximum allowed pressure for these wheels.

Not a problem if the tires are load range "D" (max. 50 psi). So that would be the first thing to check, I think.

Thank you for the reply with the information that I needed. They are indeed load range "D". I'm guessing that he was confusing them with the 8 bolt wheels. I was able to pickup six brand new Bajas at a very reasonable price and wanted to make sure I had the proper wheels. I have single 24 bolt wheel and saw the spec on the wheel, but my HMMWV has not arrived yet so I could not check the 12 bolt wheels. 11 weeks and counting on the EUC.

There are 2 types of 12 bolt, 3450 and 3850. Besides the stamp, you can visually tell the difference by seeing a locator hole on both halfs between twork of the studs. Don't mix 12 bolt rims halfs.
Your picture is fuzzy but it appears to not have the locator hole.

Went and picked up the tires last night. They were in new condition as the seller had stated. He had six and while I only need 5, at six for $1250 I thought that I got a pretty good deal. Just need a HMMWV now...
