Im new to the site and have been exploring it for a while. This site is awsome - im getting my first deuce and was looking to single it out. I was looking at getting the A3 HEMTT rims and are 395/85R20 the biggest tires that will fit ? Oh and ive read you dont to flip the hubs with the HEMTT rims - is that true? Thanks

Make sure you read all the TMs, check brakes, bearings, everything that make your truck stop, then think about big tires, they have decent brakes when correct, but you do not want that much rolling mass without good brakes. welcome to the site.

HEMTT rims are different than the A3 wheels the A3 wheels are made for the M35A3 they are lighter and have more back space than the HEMTT wheel I am going to single out my 53 studebaker with goodyear 395 MVTs and A3 wheels. Im going up next week and getting a trailer load of tires and bringing back some rims.Im going to flip the hubs I like the look it gives the truck and it gives me a chance to check out the brakes and wheel cylinders while doing the flip.

Does this mean 49 inch tires on a bobbed deuce would not be safe?
I have seen other guys to it, but dont want to die on the highway : (

When he used the term "single it out" I didn't read all your post. Sorry

I think that 49" tires would rub the frame on the front when you turn and you may have clearance problems on back, too. I know from personal experience that you can use 395 (46") tires on a stock rim with no clearance issues on front and only minor issues on back. If you use an M105 bed, leave it on the frame and bolt frame and all to the deuce frame. You will also need to do a little cutting of the bed cross braces. If you cut down the stock bed, you will have no problems at all.

1400's on a bobb'd deuce

Here's a video of a bobb'd deuce running 1400 XL's, M105 bed, and the tires don't hit anywhere according to the owner.

While the 1400's are taller than the 395's
the 395's are about 1 1/2" wider than the 1400's
I have been told that the 1400's on stock rims rub less than the 395's on stock rims, on the front axle.

So far the biggest tires I have put on a deuce are 1100R20's .......................

Better tell the driver to drive with thumbs out, or he will learn the hard way. Watch his hands around the 1:30 mark.

I usually put 1400X20s on the trucks I bob this truck has a three inch lift under the cab, fenders and bed. I like the recentered HEMTT rims as seen in the pics it gives a lot of clearance to the steer tires I added power steering to this truck even with the addition of the power steering gear there is more than enough room for tires to clear even the steering box lock to lock.
