Are there any OEM lights —tail lights, running lights, turn signals — that come in black? Or does AMGenral only make them in Green?

I see lots of black ones online but I assume those are knockoffs?

I bought some black plastic rear composites from Midwest Military. They were manufactured by one of the OEM manufacturers. I don't recall the manufacturer, although I believe it is Truck Lite. I went with black because the camo right around the light is black. You could always paint whatever light you have to match the camo...I've done it before. This time I went with new OEM lights that matched the color.

I don't believe AM General makes lights.

Yea I could spray can them, but f there is a factor black finish out there I’d just do that.

So how do I know which lights are oem and which might be Chinese junk?

Only the Truklite mfg are black, the incandescent lights are generally only green or Tan.
The Hmmwv’s from the factory do not install Truklite, it’s Interlog or Swiss Controls

I know that the lights are in fact ripped off by chi-com copycats-- here is one way to tell:

- Look closely at the wires-- true mil contract wiring would have casing (insulation) markings indicating either prestolite or southwire-- any chinese characters are a dead giveaway of a counterfeit. I have my dad to thank for that one-- he has many hears experience in the wire and cable industry.

I think I’ll just call and order from Mac Motors. They are good and seem to have the best price. I’ll just ask for true OEM and maybe I’ll swap my black covers for the oems. Or paint them as needed

I’m pretty sure I got a full set of black lights, markers and reflectors of federal military parts.

I bought a full set from Midwest Military Equipment. But they are made in China and my one tail light failed in about a year.

Any time a dealer says "fits" or "replacement" it usually means it is a knockoff part.
OR Equal to, like OEM, No name or No serial number on most electrical IE flasher, turn signal control and milk bottle overflow tanks.

You have a HumV? Little late to go cheap... but a good deal can be had. Research first.

Factory quality // who's factory? CAMO

I have a short in one of the wires in my tail light. I got them from Midwest Military and figured it was Chinese. Didn’t want to make that mistake again.

also don’t want LED. All those little dots look weird

I plugged in my new OEM lights and they work flawlessly. I did have the spray paint them - the China covers did not fit.

however now my Midwest military equipment China side marker lights, both on the passenger side, have failed. I was able to test both location for power with another led light I had laying around. Both locations illuminated the light.

mainly posting to that none of you risk buying fake Chinese lights. The OEM ones were only a few dollars more than the cheap fakes.
