The bumper lights look like sealed, non replaceable lights on the inside. When removing the front ones before powder coating the bumper, one of the front lights was already split. Insides were so dusty and dirt filled, hard to tell what made the tick.

So, bottom line, are they fixable or replaceable? Also, before I crack open the grill black light open, what kind of bulb is in there?

Thanks!

Hello Forest,

From what I can tell the bumper lights are sealed and not fixable,
so you would have to replace them.

Unless someone here can tell us more about them.

As for the blackout drive light, I do not have any information on the bulb,
other then it looks like a normal tail lamp/turn signal bulb.
But I will open mine when I get a chance, and get you the bulb number.
Maybe tomorrow or so...

Good night,

Why not just look in the manual?

Thanks, you know a red or green LED would look cool as a replacement bulb if possible...

I picked some for the dash and haven't installed yet, might have to divert one!

Thanks for the info sir, by the way your not far from miles of forest roads up there! I bet a drive up to the Tallulah gorge would great this time of year!

Hndrsonj,
Good idea, I had not thought of that.
I just thought it would be quicker doing it that way, than trying to find it in the manual.

Forest,
red or green LED for the drive light, Hmmm... interesting....
I like white light for things like that... But to each their own...

You are welcome for the information. I am glad to help.
I have been up to the Tallulah gorge in company cars before.
It is beautiful up there, so it would be fun to take the M1009 up there,
and find some forest roads to drive on.

Good night,

Just a thought:

Back in the mid 80's, I was a mechanic in a transportation unit. M1009 Operators kept breaking the 3 lever military tactical light switches. Sometimes the levers would break externally, but more often than not, the lever would break internally. This was mostly due to operator error. Finally, the CO said for no #$%^&* more playing with the tactical lights.

So, just a thought, if your blackout lights are not working as intended, check the switch out too.

Again, just a thought.

Hello Tuckered,

Thanks for the tip.
I am M1009, both blackout light switches work perfectly,
especially since a few weeks back I got behind the dashboard, and cleaned the connections, etc.
