Last night I installed one of the KATS 600 watt 41 mm block heaters.
It fit in the frost/freeze plug hole on the drive side back near the oil filter.
I found it was easiest to use an air hammer to rat tat tat on it and rock it out. The long screw driver and hammer just punched a hole in it and busted my knuckles.
I used a large catch pan - coolant was recently serviced so I was careful to capture all of it.
I ordered an inch pound wrench - they want it at 19, the wrench starts at 20. I'm sure I over did it anyway.
I've been joking since last night that I've got a true plug-in hybrid Hummer - diesel AND 120 volt electric.
Anyway, easy peasy and done in about an hour.
I'm hearing that an oil pan heater may be of use as well - I'll have to research that one.
